HiI recently acquired this Illinois watch. The serial number dates it to 1927. I have a few questions for the Illinois experts.1)Does this model have a name? I belive it is a generic but not sure.2)What type of band originally came on the watch? It presently has a brown leather band.3)What is the first serial number after Hamilton took over the company? ThanksTony
Got another Elgin! Found this at the Goodwill of all places. I think it's early teens to 20's from all the engraving, it looks very "art nouveau" to me.It's smaller than my size 18, hexagonal. I haven't opened it yet but it does seem to run well!A few hairline cracks on the face, but what can you expect for 4$ at the Goodwill? And pictures!Anyway, I'll see what everyone thinks. I don't want to take a knife to it to try and pry it open just yet, is there any special trick I need to know on how to
