I put it back together, and unlike dang near every other watch I've worked on it did NOT start right up when the balance went back in. I had to give it a spin, and then it ran. When I timed it, instead of the 'ticks' every 0.2 seconds, the 'tick' is shorter than the 'tock', but they average out to 0.2 seconds, so the overall rate is pretty close. BUT it's not
