Hello!A little introduction from my side. Have been following the forums for some time now. Have been interested in watches since a few years and with my new job I'm stepping up the hobby a bit more. I'm interested in 1900-1950 American wristwatches. I'm now owner of a few Waltham's and a Elgin. All 7jewels. Bought my first 17jewel Waltham a week ago with the serial number; B13978. I've never had a Waltham with a letter in front of the serial. Can somebody explain my how to "read" these serials

Considering that the photos are of bad quality and don't show good detail or even the movement, I'd say that the buyer was taking a chance at price. The dial looked okay, but aged and spotted at the edges, as far as I can tell.
