When I wind my SMP300, I don't count the number of times i rotate the bezel to get the 40 or so, I just kinda "slide" my finger under the crown so in one "slide", I get alot more winds. I'm sure i probably hit the "overwind" protection mechanism like this after a couple "slides" of the finger, but i don't necessarily listen for the clicking.
