I've had this one for a few days now, and rather liking it. It's a little bit beat up, but I just couldn't resist the red-tipped second hand, and those numerals . It keeps pretty good time, winds properly and the date changes, but I'll still be taking it somewhere for a service soon. Might treat it to a nicer strap as well. Not sure what, yet, though.
I spent the weekend out in the LA area and visited an antique flea market in Long Beach on Sunday. There were a fair amount of watch dealers with quite a few vintage Hammies. I got to see both an original and a quartz Piping Rock. I saw an original Ventura. The dealer called the Ventura the Ward Cleaver watch, saying that Hugh Beaumont wore one on Leave It to Beaver. I thought it odd that I hadn't heard of this before since the Hamilton-Hollywood connection has been discussed. I didn't buy any H
