Y'all may remember my posting a couple months ago of an Elgin 670 movement I had acquired. It was damaskeened, and gold plated, and was one of 1000 Elgin made to commemorate the 50 Millionth Elgin watch? It had apparently been stripped out of one of the special 18kt cases which presumably was melted. Well, there's one up on The Swamp now - 220918529458. This one has all kinds of problems - the dial was redone incorrectly - now reads 'Elgin' instead of 'Lord Elgin' and the damaskeened and gold
I suppose this has come up before, but I can't seem to uncover the discussion via a forum search, and a post on the IWC Forum yielded no answers.I understand that possibly WWI silver "British" trench watches with movements signed "SS&Co." are Stauffer, Sons & Co., and that this company had a relationship with IWC in the first 15 or so years of the 20th Century, where IWC supplied SS&Co. with movements. The SS&Co signing was usually (often?) accompanied by a device of 3 triangles.
